Happy Chinese New Year

The Year of the Rabbit will be upon us soon!  So here's a little prayer to ring in the new year:

May I be well, happy, and peaceful

May my teachers be well, happy, and peaceful.

May my parents be well, happy, and peaceful.

May my relatives be well, happy, and peaceful.

May my friends be well, happy, and peaceful.

May the indifferent persons be well, happy, and peaceful.

May the unfriendly persons be well, happy, and peaceful.

May all meditators be well, happy, and peaceful.

May all beings be well, happy, and peaceful.

Mealtime Prayer

Loving greetings!  Here's a simple mealtime prayer which I would like to share with you.  We recite it at every meal for our food to be blessed and to show gratitude for the abundance of food we are fortunate to have as well as other earthly blessings.

May this food be dedicated to the triple jewel

The precious Buddha

The precious Dharma

The precious Sangha

Bless this food so we may take it as medicine

free from attachment and desire

So that it may nourish our bodies so we may

work for the benefit of all sentient beings.

A Prayer for You

I take refuge in the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha

Until I attain Enlightenment.

By merit accumulations from practicing generosity and the other perfections,

May I attain Enlightenment, for the benefit of all sentient beings.

A Prayer for You

May all beings have happiness and the causes of happiness;

May all be free from sorrow and the causes of sorrow;

May all never be separated from the sacred happiness which is sorrowless;

And may all live in equanimity, without too much attachment and too much aversion,

And live believing in the equality of all that lives.

A Little Prayer

Greetings!  Here's a little prayer which I repeat everyday before I go to bed.  It's simple and straightforward and I thought you might like it too.  You can chant it anytime and anywhere.

May I be peaceful.
May I be happy.
May I be well.
May I be safe.
May I be free from suffering.

May all beings be peaceful.
May all beings be happy.
May all beings be well.
May all beings be safe.
May all beings be free from suffering.

Prayer for Peace

May all beings everywhere plagued with sufferings of body and mind quickly be freed from their illnesses.

May those frightened cease to be afraid, and may those bound be free.

May the powerless find power and may  people think of befriending one another.

May those who find themselves in trackless, fearful wilderness - the children, the aged, the unprotected -  be guarded by beneficent celestials, and may they swiftly attain enlightenment.

Buddhist Prayer of Forgiveness

Hi! As we step into the new year, I would like to share with you this little prayer. As Head Nun often reminded us, forgiving others as well as ourselves is an important step towards a better life and towards enlightenment.  Giving up hatred, anger and resentment and forgiving the harm done to us will allow us to move on and achieve peace of mind.  I sincerely hope you will benefit from this prayer ~ Da

If I have harmed anyone in any way either knowingly or unknowingly
through my own confusions, I ask their forgiveness.

If anyone has harmed me in any way either knowingly or unknowingly
through their own confusions, I forgive them.

And if there is a situation I am not yet ready to forgive,
I forgive myself for that.

For all the ways that I harm myself, negate, doubt, belittle myself,
judge or be unkind to myself through my own confusions,
I forgive myself.

May the new year 2019 be better for everyone and
may all beings be well, happy, healthy and peaceful.
