Happy International Cat Day to all my feline friends, especially Ning and Mi Mi! May you all be blessed by the Lord Buddha and be well, happy and peaceful always!
The photo above, taken by Head Nun, is a candid shot of APK and another nun in the temple kitchen. The nun holding me helps Head Nun with the cooking and is a kind, old soul. APK also did a colorful poster for ICD, a result of her flair for art!
I am grateful to the humans who have created ICD which falls on 8 August each year to raise awareness for cats and look into ways to help and protect us. God bless you all!
This is also an appropriate occasion to express my grateful thanks to Head Nun and her nuns for their love and kindness and for sharing the Buddha's wisdom with me.

It's that time of year again - the Hungry Ghost month - when the gates of Hell are opened and the spooks (according to local belief) are let loose to wander freely on earth! Some elderly humans say that the festival has long been misinterpreted and is actually a time for remembrance of their departed loved ones and never meant to be a time for ghosts, fear and superstition. Whatever it is, when you're living in a temple with a columbarium, you just can't help feeling a little nervous, to say the least! But I'm glad I have my good pals, HD and PH and they have assured me that they will protect me from any of their naughty or mischievous friends! So far, so good and I have been able to sleep peacefully every night! Well, there's still some three weeks to go and I can't wait for them to be over!
Wesak Day is always a special celebration at the temple. Weeks before, the nuns will start cleaning up and preparing the temple for devotees coming to pray and when the big day arrives, everything is shining and gleaming from head to toe! Our Lord Buddha always looks resplendent surrounded by flowers, some of which are home grown by Head Nun.
May the Lord Buddha enlighten us all on the path of love, peace and truth! May all be well and happy and let us not forget to pray for peace and the end of suffering in the world!

The festival is here at last! Happy Mid-Autumn Festival and may the glow of the moon light your way to good health, happiness and prosperity!

It's here again, the Hungry Ghost Festival which is going to last one long month. Since knowing Humpty Dumpty and Pumpkin Head, it has been less scary for me because like the good pals they are, they have assured me they will protect me from naughty or unfriendly spooks who are out to get innocent cats. So I now I can go to bed without having to hide under my blanket or wear shades! It is most unfortunate that both of them had such a tragic end to their lives - HD fell ten stories from his apartment and PH was beheaded by loan sharks. They wouldn't have been able to rest in peace if Head Nun hadn't given them room in the "Palace" where they now reside happily.
So we were relaxing in the kitchen and HD said that if he had his life to live all over again, he would work hard to be a millionaire. Apart from giving himself all the best in life, he would also do charitable work, like building schools, houses for the poor, etc. etc. PH said all he wanted is to be born in a big family where he would be loved by his brothers and sisters and of course his parents because he had been an orphan all his life and never knew love.
"And what would you want to be, Vege Cat? Surely not a cat again?" HD asked me.
I wanted to say that it is my goal to be free from this cycle of birth and death and never be born again, but thought that maybe that would be too difficult for two ghosts to understand. So I said, "I will be whatever the Buddha wants me to be."
The two ghosts gave me the "thumbs up", I went to bed and so ended another day.
