A simple robe, a quiet place,
A gentle heart, a peaceful face.
No wealth to guard, no fame to find,
Just peace and freedom of the mind.
A bowl for food, a path to tread,
A little shelter, a place to rest.
With fewer wants and little to own,
The monk discovers a world unknown.
No need for more, no need to chase,
Just mindful steps and time and space.
For when the heart learns to let things be,
In a simple life, we find we are free.
(Grateful thanks to the Forest Monk for sharing his beautiful poem)
